🔐 Trezor Suite® — Starting™ Up Your Device | Trezór®
Welcome to the official setup and onboarding guide for your Trezor® hardware wallet using Trezor Suite®. Whether you're a beginner or crypto pro, this guide will walk you through the full setup process from unboxing to transacting securely — all from your local Trezor Suite desktop or web app.
📦 Step 1: Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Once your Trezor device arrives, make sure the box is sealed and shows no signs of tampering. Trezor packaging includes tamper-evident seals, and the device should never arrive pre-installed or opened.
- ✅ Trezor Model T or Model One
- ✅ USB cable
- ✅ Recovery seed card(s)
- ✅ Stickers and instruction booklet
🛡️
Security Tip: If the packaging seems altered or your device looks used, contact
Trezor Support before proceeding.
Always begin at the official setup page: trezor.io/start. From there, you'll be guided to download Trezor Suite.

💻 Step 3: Download and Install Trezor Suite
Follow the prompts to download and install Trezor Suite. The desktop app is the most secure method as it runs locally and does not rely on a browser.
- 💾 Windows:
.exe
installer
- 🍏 macOS:
.dmg
installer
- 🐧 Linux:
.AppImage
, .deb
, or .tar
🧠 Remember: Always verify the signature of the installer if you’re on Linux for additional security.
🔌 Step 4: Connect and Begin Setup
After launching Trezor Suite:
- Plug in your Trezor device via USB
- Click "Set up my Trezor"
- Select your device model
- Follow on-screen instructions to install the latest firmware
🔐 Step 5: Generate Recovery Seed
Your Trezor device will now generate a 12 or 24-word recovery seed (depending on the model and settings). Write these words carefully on the provided card.
- 📝 Never take photos or store your seed digitally
- 🧾 Keep it in a fireproof, secure location
- 🛑 Do not share it with anyone
⚠️ Important: This seed is the only way to recover your crypto if your device is lost or damaged.
🔧 Step 6: Set a PIN and Optional Passphrase
Set a strong PIN code (4–50 digits). Optionally, enable a passphrase — an additional word that acts as a 25th seed word to create a hidden wallet.
Why use a passphrase?
- ➕ Adds another layer of security
- 🔒 Makes your wallet much harder to brute-force
- 🧠 Must be remembered — cannot be recovered if lost
📁 Step 7: Create Wallet & Add Coins
After setting up your device and security settings:
- Click "Create Wallet"
- Choose which cryptocurrencies you want to manage
- Install their respective blockchain apps if required
Supported coins include:
- Bitcoin (BTC)
- Ethereum (ETH) + ERC-20 tokens
- Litecoin (LTC), Cardano (ADA), Dogecoin (DOGE)
- More than 1000+ supported assets
💸 Step 8: Send & Receive Funds
Now you can start using your wallet:
📥 Receive
- Click “Receive” in Trezor Suite
- Copy your address and verify it on your device
- Share the address or QR code safely
